FELLOW AMERICANS

We are two independent filmmakers who embarked on this project in November 2019,  pre-COVID 19, when the world was already on fire. We wanted to take action in the 2020 election, but had no idea where to start. What can you do besides vote once every 2-4 years, and even then, does one vote matter? It quickly became clear that many people we knew were in the same boat: they were angry and afraid or worse - apathetic.

 

The biggest problem it seemed, was that people simply didn't know what to do. "How can I, as a single person, impact an election?" we heard many say. There was a fundamental gap in our understanding: we were taught how the government works, but not how to make government work for us.

So we went to our peers who did know - all people under the age of 35 who were standing up and engaging in the political process. We began to discover the many big, small, funny, painful, messy, powerful ways they were taking action; each by applying a unique skillset to political causes they believed in. They inspired us to do the same.

Our mission is to create a documentary series that features Millennial and Gen Z Americans of diverse backgrounds, locations, and skillsets taking action in the 2020 election, in order to inspire others to do the same. We seek to inspire and inform the people democracy belongs to: every single person living in America. We do not endorse any one candidate or policy, nor are we funded by any political organizations. We simply believe in democracy and humbly wish to contribute with the tools we have at hand.
